Friday, June 06, 2008 DENR, PNP adopt hearing-impaired class
THE Cadiz City Community Environment and Natural Resources office (Cenro) and the city police have joined forces to adopt a class of hearing-impaired students of the Special Education Training Center (Sped).
"There is no delight in owning anything unshared," said Cenro-Cadiz Andres Untal and Chief Inspector Jefferson Descallar during the adoption ceremony recently.
The hearing-impaired class of Sped-Cadiz was organized sometime in 1994. For this school year, it has total of 22 students belonging to grades I, II and III.
Cenro and PNP donated a total of 103.4 board feet of assorted sized lumber, which were sourced from confiscated forest products in their anti-illegal tree cutting operations.
Cenro shouldered the labor cost of the repair of tables and chairs while the PNP gave three gallons of paint, three hinges, one set of doorknobs and three kilos of assorted sizes of nails.
Tri-Star and Step Marketing also donated certain amounts for the purchase of marine plywoods.
The joint effort of the DENR and PNP is in line with the 'Brigada Eskwela' program of the Department of Education (DepEd) under the 'adopt-a-school' program.
The activity is also in line with the PNP and DENR's reach out programs to physically handicapped civilians, especially children.
