Moises Padilla dad shot dead
By Erwin Ambo Delilan

A MOISES Padilla municipal councilor was shot dead by six bonnet-wearing armed men at around 6 o'clock Thursday morning while he was on his way to his cabbage plantation in barangay Pula, Canlaon City in Oriental Negros.

Councilor Jeneviv 'Bebot' Fajardo, 27, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Canlaon District Hospital in Negros Oriental.

He sustained a lone gunshot wound at the left side of his stomach with the bullet exiting through his right thigh.

Initial medical reports indicated that the bullet from a still unknown caliber hit his internal organs, causing massive hemorrhage resulting to his death.

Fajardo was set to be married on June 21 to Michelle Guarin with whom he had been living with for two years. She said they were scheduled to go to San Carlos City Friday to have their wedding invitations printed.

Guarin said her fiancé was still able to run back towards their house, which is about a kilometer away from the cabbage farm, even after he got shot.

She appealed to authorities to go after her fiancé's killers, adding Fajardo had no known enemies in the area.

Negros Occidental Provincial Police director Rosendo Franco, meanwhile, already ordered an immediate probe into Fajardo's death, eyeing land dispute as initial motive for the killing.
