Friday, June 20, 2008 Bacoleño in 64-man main draw of Villar Cup
BACOLOD City's Ramil "Bebeng" Gallego is one of the seeded billiards standouts included in the 64-man main draw of the First Senate President Manny Villar Billiards Cup Cebu leg, which kicks off Friday at the Trade Hall of SM City in Cebu.
Together with Gallego are Joven Bustamante, Rodolfo Luat, Carlo Biado, Jharome Peña, Ricky Zerna of the Negros Billiards Stable, Jundel Mason, Elmer Haya and Benson Palce, along with former national juniors titlist Mark Mendoza and long-time national team campaigner Benjie Guevarra.
Cebuano Warren Kiamko, winner of the kickoff leg of the Villiards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine Sports, in cooperation with the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) and sponsored by Carmella Communities, is expected to face stiff competition from newly crowned World Pool Masters champion Alex Pagulayan and former World number 1 Django Bustamante.
Also expected to make a run for the title are Efren "Bata" Reyes and fellow two-time world champion Ronnie Alcano, along with current world's top-ranked cue artist Dennis Orcollo, 2007 World Pool runner-up Roberto Gomez, reigning national titlist Lee Van Corteza, former Asian Games gold medallist Gandy Valle, as well as hordes of veterans and rising stars of Philippine billiards.
