Meanwhile, more than 246 out-of-school youths (OSYs) finished their courses in the John Orola Foundation, taking up various short courses on cooking, service crew, bartending, and welding.
Livelihood seminars are also currently held at Barangay Handumanan on welding, vulcanizing, and food processing.
De la Cruz said about 90 participants are involved in this activity, mostly drivers, mothers, and OSYs. Classes are held every Saturdays and Sundays at the barangay gymnasium.
Because of the country’s aggressive job creation campaigns and training of its people to fill-up work vacancies, Philippines landed in the top 10 countries globally with the highest percentage increase in employment as reported by privately-held businesses (PHBs) this year.
The survey was conducted by Grant Thornton International, showing that private sector employment in the country increased by six about percent.
Philippines is tied in 9th place with South Africa, Poland, Australia, and Sweden in the study.
Malacañang hailed the survey, saying it reflects the dedication and sincerity of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to provide jobs and improve the lives of Filipinos.
