NEGRENSE cage fans are expected to troop to the Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School Friday, 5:30 p.m., for the pre-season tune-up clash between Iloilo City's Ticel basketball team owned by Alberto Lopez and the Pamplona Plantations-owned Pamplona Bulls.
Both the Bulls and Ticel are among the fancied teams from outside Bacolod City that are expected to draw the crowds in the forthcoming Negros Basketball Association (NBA) Governor Isidro Zayco Invitational Basketball Cup '08 event.
The others are Toyota-Iloilo owned by businessman Robert Uy, and if plans push through, the Misamis Oriental team mentored by former Negros Slashers head coach Jun Noel, which is seeing action in the ongoing Liga Pilipinas series.
Pamplona Bulls is topbilled by former MBA Negros Slashers standout and ex-PBA campaigner Leo Bat-og and is mentored by ex-Negros Slashers assistant coach Rollie Buenaflor with Jojo Dazo and Troy Sarabia as assistants.
Other members of the squad are former WNC Mustang and Philippine Basketball League (PBL) campaigner Mark Moreño, Tommy Andren, Rodel Canino, Ryan Concha, Arnulfu Corriente, Elvin Diaz, James Doromal, Marloni Gonzales, Mark Marcos, Chad Paez, John Repique, Richard Verayo and Arnold Gono.
The bleacher section will be open to the public for free while tickets will be sold at P25 each to ringside occupants to cover expenses for gym rental and officiating, said NBA treasurer Vic Tan. (HCV)
