Team 'S' out to end Alvin's winning streak

IF ALVIN Auto Parts' scary 59-58 win over winless Sucden is to be gauged, the Partsmen will be in for a tough evening when it tackles Team 'S' at 6:30 p.m. when the BUS Group-Sharp Cup ends the second of three round-elimination at Lopue's South Square Gym.

Coach Bing Soyao vows to avenge its 59-74 defeat in the first round and put more pressure on the scoring trio of Reynaldo Valencia, Armando Soberano and Biboy Java.

Team 'S' will rely heavily on Zaldy Navarra and Julius Prietos for points with the boards under Arturo Tomaro and Jovito Yasay. If Ed Cruz, Moises Padilla and Josan Tayson share in the scoring load, then Alvin will have a hard time protecting its drive for outright championship.

Meanwhile, Sucden will try to barge in the win column against third-running Axial Engineering, which beat them 95-75. Game time is 8 p.m. The Sugarmen must play like their last in order to prevail over its tormentor, which will rely again on Edgar Espares, Raymundo Sapa, Henrico Juarez and Rene Antones.

Sucden will get the most from Bert Pabon, Vic Duenas, Nene Lapore and Winnie Antones. Three-point artist Ding Hechanova must get his bearing early and slumping Mel de Dios must think of rebounds and not to rush for points.

Tournament format is triple round robin elimination with the team that sweeps automatically becoming the champion. In case of semi final round, numbers 1 and 2 will have a twice-to-beat advantage by 3 & 4. (HGD)
