Friday, July 11, 2008 Varsity athletes focus of Mega Boxing Gym programs
FOLLOWING its successful staging of a boxing summer clinic for kids last summer, Mega Boxing Gym sets its eyes on helping varsity athletes in various sports disciplines who want to work out in preparation for their stint in the forthcoming Nopsscea season which kicks off this September.
"This is our humble way of extending support to our promising young athletes, many of whom can't afford to use certified gym facilities to prepare them physically for competition," said boxing guru and Mega Boxing Gym proprietor Santino Magno.
He pointed out that many people don't realize boxing's potentials as an exercise. "Often, people are amazed in watching boxing matches. But now, they can actually experience for themselves the thrill and excitement of boxing. Mega Boxing Gym can give you the hottest exercise in town. Here we will teach you the sport of boxing and give you a stronger, younger, and healthier body," said Magno, who formerly owned and operated the Round One gym.
"We're not saying we will turn you into boxers. What we're saying is exercise plays a key role in building a healthier body. Boxing is a cardiovascular exercise that can elevate your heart rate and help you reach optimum health. It is a dynamic and challenging activity regardless of your age, gender, shape and size, and just perfect in preparing you for competition in your preferred sport," Magno explains.
For varsity athletes who have weight problems or excess fat accumulated due to lack of activity prior to school opening, Mega Boxing Gym trainers say boxing is a powerful tool that can burn your fat and let you lose weight fast.
Varsity athletes who are enrolled for the current school year properly certified by their respective sports moderator can avail of the ongoing promo of 15 percent discount on all rates still available and 5% discount on selected merchandize.
The gym offers basic boxing, advance boxing and kickboxing courses. Among the facilities varsity athletes can tap are punching bag, speedball, California ball and instructional DVDs, as well as a side bar that serves great Mexican foods.
Interested varsity athletes can visit the gym during office hours daily at 10th-Lacson Sts., call 709-10-33 or email santino_magno@yahoo.com. (HCV)
