LNA7 Sports Foundation 17-Under cagefest kicks off July 19

The teams seeing action are the University of St. La Salle, Mansilingan Christian Academy, St. John's Institute, St. Joseph's School-La Salle, Stallion, Living Heritage Christian Academy, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, St. Benilde School and West Negros University.

The tournament is envisioned to "provide and set up a synchronized basketball tournament schedule with NOPSSCEA," and to strengthen existing school-based basketball programs through competition, said tournament commissioner Jake Azucena.
The tournament is organized by the LNA 7 Sports Foundation Inc., headed by its chairman Anthony Carlo Agustin who is concurrently the Western Visayas regional director of the BAP-SBP (Basketball Association of the Philippines-Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas).

Saturday's opening day schedule features three games, starting with the clash between Mansilingan Christian Academy and Living Heritage Christian Academy followed by the matchup between St. Joseph's School-La Salle versus St. Benilde School while the last game is between the University of St. La Salle and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

Agustin is scheduled to deliver the opening remarks in Saturday's brief opening ceremonies while Azucena will declare the tournament open.

Participating school teams are using the event as tune-up in preparation for this year's NOPSSCEA (Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural & Educational Association) season slated to reel off in September.(HCV)
