Bartolome is Silay's police chief

POLICE Superintendent Jerry R. Bartolome made a courtesy visit to Silay Mayor Jose 'Oti' Montelibano on Wednesday as the city's new chief of police.

A native of Cabatuan, Isabela, Bartolome had been the chief of police of Manapla, Escalante City and Talisay City.

He said his administration will jive with the present programs and projects of Montelibano, adding his focus will be the street crimes and the strengthening of the bantay-bukid, bantay-dagat and bantay-dalan organizations.

Bartolome will also be meeting with barangay officials, civic, religious and education leaders to tackle concerns on crimes affecting minors.

Anti-prostitution campaign, illegal possession of deadly weapons and ammunitions, anti-gambling and an intensified campaign against wanted persons are also in his priority list.

He appealed to Silay residents to support his crime prevention campaign as he assured banks in Silay that he will closely monitor nefarious activities in the area.

Silay City Health Office will also update the social hygiene measures of those working in resto bars so that policemen could check them up.

The new chief will also closely coordinate with Silay tourism activities, especially those involving foreigners and visitors from other provinces.

Topping the list is police visibility during the Children's Summer International Village participated by delegates from 12 countries, environment activity of Oisca-Japan, mangrove rehabilitation of Ikaw-Ako Japan-Negros Partnership for Environmental Protection and the visit of Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams.(Ver Pacete)
