Friday, July 25, 2008 WNU faces MCA in Saturday's 17-Under caging
HOST West Negros University (WNU) tries to bounce back into the win column following its 72-75 loss at the hands of Living Heritage Christian Academy when hostilities in the 17-Under basketball tournament organized and sponsored by the LNA 7 Sports Foundation Inc. resumes Saturday at the WNU Gym.
The Baby Mustangs meet Mansilingan Christian Academy (MCA) in the 11 a.m. matchup following two other games pitting wildcard entry Stallions against St. Joseph's School-La Salle at 8 a.m. and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (Bacolod) versus La Consolacion College-Main at 9:30 a.m.
Meanwhile, LHCA, mentored by Nimer Nierves, which has a 1-1 win-loss card following its 74-76 loss to MCA, takes on USLS in the 2 p.m. schedule followed by St. John's Institute versus St. Benilde School at 3:30 p.m.
Sunday's four-game schedule features USLS versus SJLS at 8 a.m. followed by the game between St. Benilde School and LCC-Main at 9:30 a.m. then the 11 a.m. tussle between UNO-R and SJI.
The lone Sunday afternoon match pits Stallions against LHCA at 1:30 p.m.
Other opening day scores showed SJLS winning over St. Benilde, 82-77, and USLS over UNO-R, 76-74, while last Sunday's scores showed UNO-R prevail over St. Benilde, 64-51, and USLS over Stallion, 80-77. (HCV)
