Saturday, July 26, 2008 P96M Escalante district hospital opens
THE P96-million Don Vicente Gustilo District Hospital (DVGDH) in Escalante City was inaugurated Friday.
Constructed starting 2004 during the time of the late Governor Joseph Marañon and then Vice Governor Isidro Zayco, the district hospital is reputed to be one of the best in the country in terms of design and size.
It also has the best expanded and intensive health care deliveries, Dr. Josephus Jubal, chief of the hospital said.
City officials led by Escalante Mayor Melecio Yap Jr., doctors, nurses and other staff of the hospital witnessed the inauguration and blessing of the hospital Friday.
The Provincial Government gave P50 million for the construction of the hospital while the city gave P30 million.
The Department of Health also gave P10 million.
Another P10 million came from the congressional fund.
The DVGDH is one of the 10 government hospitals under the provincial government.
Governor Zayco told the nurses and staff to give the best service to the people, not only those from the first district but also from the neighboring towns.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jubal requested the governor for additional facilities and personnel for the proper sanitation of the hospital.
Mayor Yap expressed his gratitude to the governor and the Provincial Government for the constant support to the city.
Representing the first district in the ceremony were Board Members Nehemias dela Cruz and Renato Gustilo.
Also present were Toboso Mayor Evello Valencia Jr., Escalante Vice Mayor Santiago Barcelona Jr., City councilors, EEDD head Lawyer Japhet Masculino, provincial police director Rosendo Franco, Nestor Jalandoni Jr. of Pag-ugyon Foundation and Dr. Rhoel Mogul, chief of EEDD hospital operations.
