Wednesday, August 06, 2008 Cadiz City PNP receives 2 regional awards
AFTER receiving a national award last week for being chosen as the 'Best Junior Police Community Relations (PCR) Officer of the Year' at Camp Crame, Cadiz City Police Chief Jefferson Descallar was also given a plaque of merit by the Regional Director Isagani Cuevas during the culminating ceremony of the 13th PCR Month celebration of the Police Regional Office.
The PCR Section of the Cadiz City PNP is also the 'Best PCR Section of the Year' in the city police station category. The award was received by PO2 Generoso Melen, Cadiz City PCR police non-commissioned officer.
The Cadiz City PNP had been a recipient of a number of local and national awards since Descallar assumed the post as CoP in 2006, including leading the unit to its best among police stations in the province for placing number in the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office unit performance evaluation for the 1st and 2nd quarters and number two for the 3rd and 4th quarters last year.
He is also instrumental in making the unit the best in the field of PCR in Negros Occidental and in Western Visayas which brought the unit to the limelight as the 'Best in PCR' nationwide (city police stations category) for 2007 and the 'Most Citizen-Friendly Police Station in Western Visayas' (highly urbanized/component city category), 'Best Urban Women and Children Protection Center' (regionwide) which again led the station to the fame of being the 'Best WCPD' (urban category, nationwide), also for last year.
Some of the highlighted features of the station which contributed much to the attainment of the overall mission and objectives of the Philippine National Police are projects like 'Oplan: Gamit Paaralan,' 'Kahoy Para sa Eskwela,' 'Alkansya sa Eskwela,' play with the elderly program for the senior citizens, 'Tinig ng Kilos' program for the hearing-impaired and 'Ang Pulis at ang may Kapansanan' livelihood program for persons with disabilities.
Other awardees from Negros Occidental are Supt. Violeta Noblezada for 'Senior PCR Officer of the Year' and PO2 Joni Mary More for 'Junior PCR Police Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year'.
