Hinigaran Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Georgiana Yulo, chairperson of the committee on health, said Arroyo provided P300,000 for the extension project which will house the lying-in clinic, maternal health and childcare services.

She said this is the first time in 27 years and they are grateful that Arroyo helped them established the extension center.

With Arroyo during the inauguration were Negros Occidental Provincial Board members Dr. Melvin Ibanez, chairman of the Provincial Board committee on health, and Enrique Miguel 'Guding' Lacson, Hinigaran Mayor Hermilo Aguilar, Hinigaran ABC president and SB member Oscar Yulo.

Arroyo said urban health is part of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's State of the Nation Address (Sona). The President is for responsible family planning.

He said: "I am for pro-choice but God's choice."

He urged local officials to make use of the health center to serve the needs of the people of Hinigaran.

Lacson also congratulated the Hinigaranons for having the extension center that would cater to the health needs of the community.

Dr. Ibanez said Arroyo will continue to assist Hinigaranons in whatever way he could just to ensure that the services of government are availed of by the people.
