Saturday, August 09, 2008 MOA on breeding, dairy station signed
THE signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to put up a breeding and dairy station in Kabankalan City was held during the Charter Day program at the public plaza recently.
Present were Governor Isidro Zayco, Mayor Pedro Zayco, Vice Mayor Delia Anacan, Dr. Freddie Maningo, president of the Negros State College of Agriculture and the city councilors.
The establishment of the center aims to boost the livestock and poultry industry in the southern part of Negros Occidental and to augment the supply of fresh milk.
The province will give a P2-million counterpart for this project besides the stocks which include cattle, carabaos, goats, pigs and chickens, said Dr. Leo Oquias, city veterinarian.
Kabankalan City will also establish a modern breeding and dairy center in a 5-hectare area in the NSCA compound, which could be accessed by the students to learn skills and techniques in the upgrading of native animals in the city and nearby local government units.
This center will also become a training ground for farmers and students to equip themselves with the latest technology needed for their employment in the future.
Helping facilitate this project are Board Member Adolfo Mangao Sr., SP members Raul Rivera and Ricardo Regalia.
