NSO personnel will visit each sample household and any responsible member of the household will be interviewed using the household questionnaire.
All female members of the household and female visitors who slept in the sample household the night prior to the visit, aged 15-49 years regardless of marital status, will be interviewed using the individual woman's questionnaire.
It is expected that around 17, 000 women nationwide will be interviewed for the survey.
In each sample household, one woman respondent will be selected for the women's safety module from among the eligible women in the household.
The 2008 NDHS is the ninth in a series of demographic surveys undertaken in the Philippines at five-year intervals since 1968.
This survey is designed to provide information on fertility, family planning, health and nutrition in the country.
All women aged 15-49 will be asked about their background, the children they have given birth to, their knowledge and use of family planning methods, the health of their children, reproductive health and other information, which will be helpful to policy makers and administrators in the health and family planning fields.
This year's NDHS was able to gain support and assistance from different agencies and organizations.
Technical assistance was provided by Macro International while the technical inputs were given by Dr. Mercededs Concepcion and the following partner agencies: Department of Health, University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI), PopCom, NSCB, Neda, FNRI, Philippine Legislators Committee on Population Development (PLCD), National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women, PhilHealth, UP School of Economics-Health Policy Development Program, National Institute of Health (NIH) and DSWD.
Just like the other surveys conducted by the NSO, the 2008 NDHS was authorized by Commonwealth Act 591, Executive Order 121.
