E-library launched at Capitol

THE Provincial Library Service Division of the Office of the Governor, with the National Library of the Philippines, launched Friday the Philippine E-Lib at the Provincial Capitol.

The launching was attended by public librarians from the cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental.

Philippine E-lib is a collaborative project of the National Library of the Philippines, University of the Philippines, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Agriculture, and the Commission on Higher Education and funded through the e-Government Fund of the Philippines.

Available resources include Union Catalog of the five partners, digitalized Filipiniana materials including theses and dissertations, special collection/researchers, and online resources/subscriptions to electronic databases.

It aims to provide the information needs of all sectors of society in a convenient, affordable, and efficient way of delivery.

The standard features provided are current awareness services, selective dissemination of information, full text downloading, literatures searches and documents in areas of mechanical, civil, environment, electrical, electromagnetic, structural process, etc.; e-journals subscriptions, mailing list on applied and theoretical mathematics, statistics, computer science; rapid response and knowledge customer support.
