Robber killed in Cadiz

AN ALLEGED leader of burglars linked to several incidents in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental was shot to death by a still unidentified person in Barangay Banquerohan, Cadiz City Monday evening.

Jerold Sagales alias Jaguar, 27, of purok Margarita, sitio Kanipa-an was waiting for a motor vehicle heading for the city proper together with his girlfriend along the barangay road around 7 p.m. Monday when an unidentified person, coming from an unknown direction, allegedly approached them and shot Sagales three times, hitting the victim in his abdomen, right cheek and chin.

Sagales' girlfriend 'Charm' said the suspect, wearing white shorts, red sleeveless and white cap, came near them and shot the victim but she could not determine where he was from.

Police investigation showed that a .38 caliber revolver was possibly used by the suspect in shooting the victim although no empty shells were found at the crime scene.

Sagales was on bail since last August following his arrest last May for a number of warrants of arrest issued against him by Judge Rolando Ramirez of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities in Cadiz for theft and illegal possession of deadly weapons.

Sagales had been in the watch list of the Cadiz police since last year allegedly for masterminding the theft of motor vehicles, cellular phones, fighting cocks and other things of some city residents. (Helen R. Benedicto)
