GMA to induct tindahan natin officers

FEDERATION of Tindahan Natin Operators-Negros Occidental Inc. (FTNOI) is inviting President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to induct FTNOI’s officers on October 1.

FTNOI is the first group to be organized and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Tindahan natin (TN) is one of the priority projects of the President to ensure food security and generate livelihood and employment.

TN is one of the stakeholders of the National Food Authority (NFA) like the Grains Retailer Confederation (Grecon).

There are around 500 TNs operating in Negros Occidental. As per the memorandum of agreement, TN is a strong and effective partner of the NFA and the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the distribution of government subsidized rice to serve the poorest of the poor and to unify all TNO’s in the province.

FTNOI president Gloria Diosmano said DSWD initiated the formation of the TN into an association. DSWD provided the capital to the TN members, worth 24 bags of rice per week payable in one year.

She said the Association wants to serve the people, especially those in remote and far-flung areas.

The allocation for TN members is just 60 bags of rice per week. Diosmano said they need at least 70 bags per week to supply the requirement of some 250 beneficiaries.

The Association also seeks to unify all TN operators. They are hoping that Arroyo will include them in her itinerary in Bacolod.

After the induction of the group, a general assembly will follow.

The FTNOI officers include Bethel Tapang of San Carlos City as vice president for the north, Rogelio Pampliega from Valladolid as VP for the south, Remegia de la Cruz from Sipalay, secretary; Matilde Gallenero of Victorias City, asst. secretary; Marina Gayares of Hinigaran, treasurer; Marites Guanzon of Bacolod City, asst. treasurer; Gladsmyr Diego of Kabankalan, auditor; Liberty Octavo of Murcia, public information officer for the north; Jasmin Nifras of Ilog, PIO for south; Zenaida Tolero of Silay City, business manager for the north and for the south, Hernani Orendain from La Carlota City.

The Boards of Directors are: 1st District - Salvacion Lumanog from Calatrava, 2nd District - Marjonito Suico from Sagay, 3rd District - Magdalena Donasco of Talisay, 4th District -  Nancy De la Cruz of Hinigiran and Ronaldo Maguiling from Bago, 5th District - Jessie Abalona and 6th District - Citas Gimotea from the town of Hinoba-an.
