Lawmaker to grant additional scholarship

ISABELA - Representative Ignacio ‘Iggy’ Arroyo Jr. offered Thursday another reward to anyone in his district who will be chosen as the lucky winner in the poster and slogan contest in line with environmental awareness program next month.

The reward will be in a form of a college scholarship for any high school students from both public and private secondary schools in the 5th District.

Arroyo, author of the newly-passed Environment Awareness Bill, has been roaming around his district, campaigning in all schools so the students would be aware and start taking care of the environment to help save Mother Earth.

The lawmaker visited Thursday three major high schools – the Hinigaran National School, Tinongan National High School and Isabela National School.

Arroyo encouraged the students to dispose of their garbage properly and be knowledgeable on waste management so they could live in a cleaner community.

To drum up his environmental campaign in the 5th District, Arroyo announced to the students from both the Hinigaran and Isabela towns that next month, his office will be launching a poster and slogan contest among high school students.

The top winner, he said, will receive a college scholarship to be funded by his congressional office.

Arroyo also encouraged the school principals to select and urge their best students to join the contest.
