Friday, October 10, 2008 Mayor inducts tourism guide officers
WITH the need for the City Government's pool of tour guides, the newly-elected officers of the Bacolod Association of Guides (BAG) held its induction ceremony at the City Mayor's Office Thursday with Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia as the inducting officer.
Leonardia said the tour guides play a vital role to the tourism industry.
"We will seriously focus on this and the guides will specifically focus on the city government. We need well-versed tour guides for the government center and for lakbay-aral groups," he said.
BAG president Bernadette Manahan, an employee of the Bacolod Housing Authority, said the city tour guides aim to promote the city and its best practices.
City tourism officer Imogene Kana-an, BAG's adviser, cited the different kinds of tours conducted by the city tour guides such as the cultural and heritage, educational, agri-business and visita Iglesia.
The 23 BAG members are employees from various offices and departments of the Bacolod City government.
