Friday, October 10, 2008 Chavit to keynote councilors' confab
BACOLOD City is playing host to some 1,200 members of the Philippine Councilors League on October 10 at the Pavilion Resort and Garden Royale Hotel.
Deputy National Defense adviser Luis 'Chavit' Singson will be the keynote speaker on October 11 while Secretary Gilberto Teodoro is the honored guest during the closing program on October 12, said Bacolod City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr.
Delegates will start arriving on October 10 and tour packages have been readied for the visiting councilors. Among the tour sites being prepared include Bacolod City, Mambukal Resort and Talisay City down to Victorias City.
Former congressman John Orola Jr., also the country's former tourism envoy to the South East Asia, had already briefed local tour guides on the councilors' itinerary.
Gamboa said the city's hosting of the affair is expected to bring in additional income not only for the city but especially the local business operators of food, hotels, stores, resorts, travel agencies, pasalubong centers, buses and public utility jeepneys as well as the vendors.
