DESPITE the October 8 relief order from Camp Crame, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Director Rosendo Franco is extending three months in his post in the province, said Governor Isidro Zayco Tuesday.
Zayco said in a phone patch that Franco was in Manila to formally pay his courtesy to the police hierarchy regarding his new assignment in the National Capital Region (NCR).
"I am already aware of the transfer order of Franco but this was hold in abeyance pending clarification of his new assignment in the PNP-NCR command," Zayco said, adding the province had requested for an extension of Franco's term in the province.
The governor added he has yet to receive recommendations from the higher headquarters on who would replace Franco.
Earlier, the Provincial Board (PB) had passed a resolution requesting for the retention of Franco as provincial director.
Last Saturday, Franco said he was thankful to the Provincial Government and the community for the support extended to him. "I am happy because I did not find any problem with regard to my implementation of programs and policies in the province as far as my office operations are concerned."
Franco said there were many police officers who lobbied to be assigned to Negros Occidental considering that an assignment in the province is one asset for promotion.
Among the names being floated as would-be successor of Franco are Senior Superintendents Manuel Felix, Melvin Mongcal and Emmanuel Talento.
