Noppo orders probe on hazing of rookie cops

NEGROS Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) director Rosendo Franco has ordered the investigation of the alleged beating of police cadets by their training officers inside a training camp in Victorias City.

The Noppo director said he wanted the case resolved before the leaves as Noppo chief.

Franco said Noppo chief investigator Robert Dejucos reported to him the alleged maltreatment of training officers to police cadets at the 6th Regional Mobile Group Training School in Camp Aniceto Lacson has been verified.

"We will hold an immediate investigation on this allegation and if it is found to be true, we will not tolerate such kind of action to our police trainees," he said.

Franco said Dajucos is still waiting for the report of Victorias City Police Office regarding the incident, as well as the list of police trainees who were alleged victims of hazing by their training officers and tactical officers.

A thorough investigation will follow, according to Franco, after a doctor sent by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas will submit the result of the physical check done to police cadets.

The Regional Health Services Unit of the PRO-Western Visayas, who conducted the physical check ups last Friday, reported that 22 out of 31 female cadets and 20 male trainees had signs of hematoma and contusions in the different parts of their bodies. (Jerson O. Coronica)
