Wednesday, November 12, 2008 NSO launches easier way to transact business
THE National Statistics Office (NSO) in Negros has made it easier for the public to transact business with the former, especially in securing birth certificates in security paper.
This as NSO launched its newest transaction system called BREQS (Batch Request Entry System) in Silay City with several city and barangay officials, as well as delegates from the city Civil Registrar Office attended the launching last November 6.
Silay Vice Mayor Mark Arthur Andrew Golez spoke before the attendees during the launching along with NSO Western Visayas Director Norman Julag-ay.
BREQS is a scheme where NSO authorizes a partner to receive a request from a client. Although it's a non-online processing, it's easier and costs less for the people of Silay and nearby cities in getting their respective birth certificates.
The actual processing of the request is done by the NSO "serbilis" outlet assigned to service the authorized partner (also known as the BREQS user). Under the scheme, NSO shall be providing the BREQS user the software, form templates, updates and procedures necessary in servicing its clientele. The software will enable the BREQS user to do off-line encoding of the application details.
The civil registry computerization project of the NSO, or the CRS-IT Project, established among others, various serbilis outlets nationwide for the convenience of the public when requesting copies and certifications from NSO.
With the BREQS scheme, the public can also now avail of many of the services offered in a serbilis outlet through the authorized agent.
Negrenses, especially Silaynons, can now rely on the fast service that the BREQS will render to every client in requesting personal and vital documents such as copies of birth, death and marriage documents as well as copies of annotated or endorsed documents provided that copies of said documents have already been issued by NSO previously, and certificate of no record of marriage or 'CeNoMar'.
Maria Sheila Torres said the NSO program would also generate added income for the city.
Mayor Jose Montelibano aims to give excellent service to Silaynons as well as from those in other cities and towns, reason why he said he totally supports the NSO's newest way of rendering public service.
Fred Sollesta, provincial statistics officer of NSO-Bacolod, gave an overview of BREQS. Julag-ay gave the message and spearheaded the open forum. Also in attendance was City Administrator Ignacio Salmingo. (Jerson Coronica)
