DBTI-Negros Occidental XI leaves for national POF tourney

THE Negros Occidental squad composed mainly of core players from Don Bosco Technical Institute of Victorias City leaves for Cagayan de Oro City on December 9 to compete in the 3rd Philippine Olympic Festival Under-15 football national finals.

The Don Bosco-Negros Occidental squad is composed of players Jeremy Diadio, Marvic Gancita, Allen Shane Delera, John Kid Delgira, Sydney Angelo Magbanua, Christian Joseph Torres, Julito Asparen, Victor Magbanua, Juan Paolo Retirado, Adrian Antonio Pagayanan, Christian Paul Jover, Jose Francisco Dofitas and Melencio Manuel Mentor.

The players selected from other schools to reinforce the team are two-time national team goalkeeper Belmark Ortega of Bacolod City National High School, Ryunell Fegidero and Joel Villacoer Jr. of West Negros University, Mark Laguardilla of Doņa Hortensia Salas Benedicto National High School of La Carlota City, Kent Guevarra of Ramon Torres National High School of Bago City; and Jhoguev Ybaņez and Rolie Tacugue of Julio Ledesma National High School of San Carlos City.

The team's head coach is former University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos varsitarian Warren Concepcion with Philip Apacible and Bro. Yulius Noa as assistant coaches.

While the team's manager and administrator are Bro Manny Gacayan and Fr. Norman Broderick Segovia, respectively.

Negros Navigation, Goodyear Philippines, Governor Isidro Zayco, Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko, Cong. Jose Carlos Lacson, Albee Benitez, Leorey Yanson, Louie Martin, Don Bosco Parents Council, DBTI Alumni and Procolors support the Western Visayas team.

The DBTI-Negros Occidental team is scheduled to play a tune-up match against reigning NOPSSCEA collegiate champion West Negros University Wednesday morning starting 7 o'clock at the WNU football field.

The team is also slated to take on the UNO-R varsity squad on Friday and the University of St. La Salle on Saturday.
