Wednesday, December 24, 2008 Congressman appeals for understanding on road put-up hassle
BACOLOD City Representative Monico Puentevella has appealed for understanding on the inconvenience brought about by the present Bacolod South-Kabankalan road construction.
"Progress will cause some inconvenience," he said, adding that if the road construction is stopped, "we will never make progress if that road will remain an abortion road."
"So we don't have a choice but to continue this project," he added. "People should understand that where there's progress, there would also be inconvenience. I am glad that it is recognized as my own project unlike before. It would be finished early next year; we will reach Sum-ag already."
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, for his part, said they would also do something to lessen gridlock in the area although it is within the jurisdiction of Puentevella and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The city already dispatched several traffic enforcers to the area to direct the flow of vehicles, especially during peak hours.
Earlier, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson pushed for a truck ban in the area, from 6:30 to 9 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to ease gridlock.
Trucks, meanwhile, could take an alternate route passing through Tabunan Abuanan going to Abauanan, Kansilayan and Murcia, and then back to Bacolod so as not to be stuck in traffic. (MAP)
