Wednesday, December 24, 2008 Mayor faces unethical conduct raps By George M. De La Cruz
CANDONI town Mayor Ceciro Borromeo is facing four counts of complaints, all for violating Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
The complaints were filed separately by Jonathan Janeo, Sonny Dimatulac, Edwin Tupas, Raymundo Iligan, barangay Banga Captain Wilfredo Pacheco and Bernabe Gilbor of Sterling St., barangay Taculing, Bacolod City.
The complainants charged the mayor for "grave abuse of authority" and "grave misconduct".
They also alleged violation of Section 4 of RA 6713 or the Norms of Conduct of Public Officials and Employees.
In Thursday's regular session of the Provincial Board (PB) of Negros Occidental, the committee on laws chaired by Board Member Gary Acuña, asked the mayor to submit his answers on the complaints filed.
Vice Governor Emillio Yulo III said a letter will be sent to Borromeo, requiring him to submit his affidavit.
Meanwhile, Yulo said cash gifts for 2,200 Capitol employees worth P25,000 each will be released Friday as soon as payroll has been prepared by the Provincial Treasurer's Office.
Gov. Isidro Zayco earlier said the cash gift was increased from P20,000 to P25,000 "to show the provincial administration's gratitude for the employees' efforts in working hard for the success of governance of the province."
