Chances dim for Realtors, Beermen in PBA RP cup

FORMER Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod varsity star and now PBA Sta. Lucia Realty head coach Teodorico 'Boyet' Fernandez said the Realtors can still forge at least a tie for the second outright semis berth in the ongoing KFC-PBA Philippine Cup.

"But it's not that easy at all because our lower quotient might not be enough for us to get past Rain or Shine and Talk 'N Text, two teams currently ahead of us in the standings," the former Negros Basketball Association (NBA) stalwart told Sun.Star Bacolod in a telephone interview over the weekend.

The Realtors were scheduled to clash with also-ran Red Bull in the first game of Sunday's two-game schedule at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Meanwhile, San Miguel Beer guard Olsen Racela may have proven that he can still contribute to his team's cause when he finished with 18 points along with former Negros Slashers slotman Dorian Peña in SMB's 82-87 loss to sister team Ginebra San Miguel in Batangas City last Saturday.

Racela, who is married to a Negrense, shot 10 of his total markers in the second period when he almost single handedly carried San Miguel at a time when the Gin Kings appeared ready to rip the game apart.

"Medyo natyempuhan lang po," Racela said of his feat in a telephone interview with Sun.Star Bacolod Sunday. "But that might be just a little too late since our 9-9 win-loss card might not be enough to make the semi-finals outright," a worried Racela said.

Point guard Jay-jay Helterbrand was credited by Racela for leading Ginebra past San Miguel with his 35-point output against the hard-fighting Beermen who barely felt the return from injury of Danny Seigle who only managed to finish with four points. (HCV)
