THE Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) reminded local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental to start the annual Local Governance Performance Management System [LGPMS] cycle this month.
Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag, director of DILG in Negros Occidental, issued the reminder through the first LGPMS advisory last January 6.
The LGPMS is a self-assessment management system and development tool developed by the DILG to help local officials and functionaries identify their strengths and weaknesses in local governance and provide the necessary interventions for these as they steer their respective LGUs toward a more focused vision and direction.
Results from this self-assessment are contained in the State of Local Governance Report (SLGR) of each LGU, which incorporates the annual report as directed by DILG Memorandum Circular 2007-24 dated March 6, 2007.
These results can also help the LGUs in planning the development of their respective areas as well as help manage LGU resources.
