Thursday, January 15, 2009 UNO-R College of Arts and Sciences launches triple events
THREE academic pursuits will be opened at the University of Negros Occidental (UNO)-Recoletos College of Arts and Sciences at the President's Hall CAS building Thursday afternoon.
Included in this 3-in-1 event are the blessing of the digital Mass Communication studio and Medical Laboratory Science lecture room, unraveling of the College Bulletin Research Journal and CAS publication (The Clover), and the launching of the CAS website.
The program will start with words of welcome from Rev. Fr. Joel Alve, OAR, CAS dean. It will be followed by the messages of Rev. Fr. Sixto Bitangjol, OAR, UNO-R president and Rev. Fr. Raul Buhay, OAR, VP for administration and academics.
The signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between UNO-R and the different media institutions will be done with Bitangjol and Buhay as signatories for UNO-R. The MOA is about the partnership of UNO-R and media institutions in Bacolod City towards mutual development and advancement. ABS-CBN station manager Leilanie Salem- Alba and DYRL station manager Renee Brillantes will give their responses.
Meanwhile, the College will be awarding plaques of appreciation to Tommy Montaño, architect of the UNO-R Digital Mass Communication studio, and donor Perla Corpuz.
Rufus Javier, Mass Communication department head, said this endeavor is made "to further answer the students’ needs and the new facilities would help them enhance their knowledge and skills in their chosen field."
