West Bayan, Leonila execs up v. road parking

BARANGAY officials of West Bayan Park and Leonila Hill have requested Councilor Delfin Balajadia's assistance against vehicles hampering barangay roads with their parking.

Barangay chief Zenaida Torres explained that they have done whatever they could to prevent the rampant parking of vehicles along the sides of their barangay roads, but to no avail.

This prompted them to seek the help of the City Council Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation and Traffic Legislation, which Balajadia chairs.

"Talagang matitigas ang ulo ang ibang mga driver and motorist diyan that they continue to park anywhere they want to the detriment of barangay residents and visitors. The appropriate government offices and agencies should really make sure that those who own vehicles really have their own garages or parking areas within their compounds and not just submit photographs of their supposed garages which may turn out to be somebody else's instead," the barangay officials said.

In turn, Balajadia referred the complainants' letter to City Treasurer Thelma Manaois and Senior Insp. Elmer Cereno, chief of the Baguio City Police Office Traffic Management Branch, on Monday.

"I understand that we already have guidelines and pertinent local legislative measures to address this problem," Balajadia bared.

He then requested both officials to make a written report on this matter and also on what appropriate actions their offices have undertaken to solve this.

Balajadia explained that these reports have to be submitted to his committee within five days from the date they received his request to guide the aldermen in aid of legislation. Ernie N. Olson Jr.
