These projects include the construction of a skating rink shade (phase 11) worth P6 million; completion of the retaining wall at the Irisan dumpsite - P3 million; construction of box culvert at Barangay San Vicente - P2.1 million; construction of indigenous product stalls fronting the Lion's head along Kennon Road, P1.19 million; additional appropriations for aid to individuals in crisis situations - P200,000; construction of a public comfort room at the Carinderia building - P300,000.
Loans to cooperatives of the disabled, P100,000; repair of DILG-City director's office, P300,000; concreting and riprapping of the Baguio Museum Parking Lot - P200,000 and for the city's housing project (phase 1), P9 million.
Vergara noted that as certified by the Local Finance Committee, the total amount of P22,541,681.54 is available for such appropriation. The money will be sourced out from the savings from various implemented and completed projects - P8,919,460.72; the monetization of the city's Internal Revenue Allotment share pegged at P9,443,097.26; as well as from the beginning balance of P4,179,123.56.
The council's Committee on Public Works has also already recommended approval of Vergara's request.
The mayor, meanwhile, appealed to the council's immediate action with regards the matter "for us to immediately implement these projects and realize our goals of uplifting the quality of life of our constituents and strengthening as well our tourism potentials." Cheryl G. Cruz |
