Rocks bury 6-year-old alive
By Ernie Olson Jr.

A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl died, after a large foothill of rocks eroded and buried their house in Crystal Cave, while she and the rest of her family were sleeping inside at dawn of Wednesday.

The victim was identified Friday, in a report to Supt. Francisco Manalo Jr., Baguio City Police Office director, as Kakay Francisco of 119 Pinewood Street, Crystal Cave, Bakakeng Central.

An initial investigation disclosed that the victim and her family were sleeping inside their house, when the steep slope behind their residence loosened and buried her.

Senior Insp. Patrick Joseph Allan, Station 5 chief, reported that investigators theorized that the erosion might have been caused by the series of heavy downpours in the previous days.

"Members of the victim's family extricated her from the rubble and rushed her to the Baguio General Hospital & Medical Center emergency ward but she was pronounced to be dead upon arrival there by attending physicians," Allan added.

The victim's remains was transferred to the Baguio Memorial Chapels by her family afterwards.
