THE search is on for Miss Baguio 2003.
A project of the City Government in cooperation with Dan Well Concepts Corp., this year's pageant aims to highlight the past, present and future of the pageantry and its overall contribution to society, Project Director Diana Jean Mendoza said.
This is in line with Baguio Day's central theme of "Being One in Celebrating the Centennial Year."
The pageant is open to Filipinas who are single, 16-25 years old, at least 5'4" in height, of good moral character, a resident of Baguio for not less than one year, and who are not titleholders of any previous search for Miss Baguio.
Applicants must submit the following: barangay clearance; two pieces colored pictures 3R, full size and close up; certificate of good moral character from the local head of the candidate's religious sect or group, school principal and/or guidance counselor; waiver from parents/guardians allowing the participant to join in all levels of the search; and must attend rehearsals and activities in line with the search.
Orientation and pre-qualification of the candidates will be on August 2, while the swimwear competition is on August 7 at the Baguio Country Club.
Candidates will also undergo the following activities: photo and video sessions at Camp John Hay Manor, August 9; gimik night at Padi's Point, August 16; talent competition at Hotel Veniz, August 23; day tour at Asin hot springs, August 24; and long gown competition at Camp John Hay, August 29.
Coronation night will be on August 31 at the Baguio Convention Center.
Major awards include Ms. Baguio 2003; 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up, best in long gown and swimwear. Special awards include Ms. Talent, Photogenic and Telegenic.
The deadline for submission of applications is July 26. Application forms may be submitted to the tourism office at City Hall or contact La Rainne Bareng at tel. nos. 442-1007/1006/8916.
