16 business firms face closure

SIXTEEN establishments, or almost half of the 36 inspected by a special committee under the mayor's office have been found operating without business or sanitary permits and clearances.

The committee, headed by Executive Asst. Ernesto Cerezo, and composed of team B leader, retired Maj. Ramon Tegui-in, SPO2 Jesus Yango and Fire Officer 3 Richard Cael Sr., reported that seven of these establishments also did not have fire extinguishers in violation of the Fire Code.

Others were found to have no emergency lighting fixtures or lacked secondary exits needed during emergencies.

As such, the committee recommended the closure of the erring establishments, saying they failed to comply with regulatory ordinances and laws despite earlier warnings given for them to do so.

Among those facing closure include Atmosphere, EM's Bar, Remel's, Elena's Gina's, Wowow, Carol's, Sawali Eatery, First Choice, Cosmo Bar, GTB CB Videoke, Anthony's, Simi Ice Eatery, D'Ranch, Beerkadas and Angela's Eatery/Bakery.
