Philpost launches stamps design competition
THE Philippine Postal Corporation (Philpost) launched a month-long nationwide postage stamps design competition open to all elementary and high school students.
The contest, with the theme "Ang Batang Pinoy Laban sa Droga", started last September 1 and aims to support the fight against illegal drugs and create awareness on the youth's role in the anti-drug campaign.
Entries should be made on a white illustration board in a vertical format with a size of 8 3/4x11 1/2 inches.
Artwork done manually using crayons, pastel or watercolor is preferred with no restrictions in the colors to be used.
Computer-generated artwork will also be accepted. Numbers representing the stamps' denomination or year of issue shall not be incorporated in the design.
All entries must be accompanied by a typed-written write-up or interpretation of the theme and the design in an A4-size bond paper, which must not be less than 100 words.
Further, the name, address and the name of the school of the designer will be attached in the back of the entry.
Artworks must be enclosed in a brown envelope and mailed through the Philpost by either registered mail or domestic express mail to: National Postage Stamp Design Contest Committee, Marketing and Business Development, Philippine Postal Corporation, Liwasang Bonifacio, 1000 Manila.
Only entries submitted by either registered mail or domestic express mail shall be accepted and must reach the contest committee on or before September 30, 2003.
Winning entries will be featured in the Stamps and Commemorative covers and issuances, which will be launched during the 105th Philpost anniversary celebration on November 4-10. All artworks shall become the property of the Philpost.
The competition will have three winners in each category. First prize winners get P20,000 and P15,000 in cash plus commemorative framed stamps worth P3,000 each is up for grabs in the high school and elementary levels. Second prizes are pegged at P15,000 and P10,000 while the third prizes amount to P10,000 and P5,000 each.
