SK-Baguio star search 2003 on
CASH prizes, trophies and plaques are up for grabs in the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation (SKF) of Baguio City's star search singing competition, which will start on Nov. 15.
Councilor Leonardo Bayan Jr., the city's SK Federation president, said the singing contest is open to all talented and gifted young residents of Baguio in two divisions, one for those 15 to 19 years old, and another, for those aged between 10 and 14.
"The contest will have one or more elimination rounds, depending on the number of entries, but only 12 finalists will be chosen, according to their scores or ratings. Only the 12 contestants with the highest scores shall advance to the finals," he said.
Bayan said as for the criteria for judging, participants will be given a maximum score of 20 percent each for _expression, rhythm and timing.
A maximum score of 25 percent shall also be awarded for the overall performance of each contestant, while another maximum rating of 10 and five percent each will be given for every participant's ease or confidence in performing and their taste or choice of songs to be rendered.
"In case of a tie in any of the places during the finals, the board of judges shall determine who will be declared on the specific place. All judge's decisions shall be final and may not be subject to any appeal," he stressed.
The tentative venue for the first stage of the singing contest is the Baguio Colleges Foundation Theatre. However, he said, this was still subject to change.
To be awarded to the winning SK Star is a cash prize of P4,000, a plaque and a trophy. Respective plaques and cash prizes of P2,500 and P1,500 shall also be awarded to the second and third place finishers.
