Swiss couple robbed of P.5-M
A VISITING Swiss couple lost more than half a million pesos worth of cash and personal belongings to still unidentified robbers last Christmas eve.
A belated report from the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-CAR), said that Norbert Hutter and his wife complained that alleged robbers broke into their rented apartment at #137 Dominican Road in Baguio and carted away their cash and other valuables.
Among the missing items included a personal laptop worth US$4,000, jewelries worth US$3,700, mobile phone worth US$150, a disc man worth P20,000 and cash amounting to US$2,000.
The couple told investigators they left their place at around 5:30 p.m. of December 24 to attend a party. When they came back at around 9:30 that night, they were shocked to discover that their place had been ransacked.
The Baguio City Police Office is still investigating the matter.
The robbery came just as Task Force Double Blade was launched by PRO-CAR. The operation was an offshoot of a series of command conference among top police officials in the region in wake of reports that bulk of crimes in the Cordillera happened in Baguio City, particularly within the central business district.
Chief Supt. Rowland Albano, PRO-CAR director, during a command conference with Baguio policemen last week stressed the importance of ensuring the welfare of Baguio residents and tourists.Harley F. Palangchao
