SLU grand alumni homecoming on May 1

AFTER almost five years since the last homecoming of graduates of Saint Louis University in 1999, and after thousands have graduated since then, SLU is gearing up for its grand alumni homecoming on May 1.

This is being spearheaded by the SLU Alumni Foundation, Inc. in cooperation with the different colleges with the support of the SLU administration.

The alumni homecoming aims to gather SLU graduates so they could bond together, reminisce their college days, plan activities to strengthen their respective alumni college chapters, and rekindle the Louisian spirit of service. The theme for this year’s grand alumni homecoming is "Volting in ... All for Service, the Louisian Way!"

The celebration starts off at 8AM at the SLU quadrangle with the registration of alumni and the simultaneous holding of welcome activities. The first part of the homecoming festivities is the volting-in activities sponsored by the different college chapters. After lunch, the chapter-level bonding activities shall follow whereby the alumni group themselves according to college, strengthen their bond through different activities, elect their chapter officers and plan future programs and activities.

A mass follows at the SLU gym with Bishop Carlito Cenzon, the Apostolic Vicar of Baguio and Benguet, as celebrant. The newly-elected officers of the college chapters and of the SLU-AFI shall be inducted after the mass.

The third part, the rekindling activities, starts with a program at 6PM. Special features include a multi-media presentation of "SLU...then and now"; inspirational message from SLU president Paul Van Parijs; and the Gawad Luis awards to be conferred on successful SLU alumni who have shown exemplary leadership in their respective professions and/or have achieved national/international prominence.

Nominations from the field are most welcome. Submit nominations (with bio-data and 2"x2" picture) on or before April 5. After dinner, a fellowship nite follows with ballroom/disco dancing, videoke, college chapter presentations, spoof awards, raffle draws, etc.

A homecoming fee of P475 entitles you to a registration kit, souvenir program, snacks, lunch, dinner and door prizes. For inquiries, you may call (074) 444-8246 to 48 local 204 (Alumni Office), 213 (Registrar’s Office), or 297 (Publications Office).
