2 mummies return to their tombs

TWO mummies are to be returned to their original resting place.

Elders from Kabayan, together with some local officials headed by Councilor Dorothea Sental, met with Gov. Raul Molintas and said the two mummies are to be returned to Timbac Cave after recognizing them as natives of Kabayan.

The elders reportedly assured the governor the identities of the two mummies are known to them and have negotiated for their return on March 30.

The two mummies, a man and a woman, stayed at the Provincial Museum for two years after they were returned to the provincial government unit by a man whom Molintas described to be an antique collector from Baguio.

Quoting an unnamed collector, the governor said the former bought it from another person but did not mention the amount paid neither when the purchase was made.
