Drug testing fee approved
THE proposed city-owned drug center shall charge P200 for every drug test done unless waived upon certification of the Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Officer that the patient is indigent.
The ordinance regarding this matter was approved by the city council after clarifications were done during a public hearing conducted June 2 1 at the session hall.
Dr. Zoraida Clavio of the Health Services Office-Baguio Health Department said there is a need for a drug-testing center in the city for patients who may be referred by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC).
However, it was recommended that the proposed drug-testing center should undergo stringent accreditation and monitoring from the Department of Health just like other private laboratories in the city.
Earlier, a P300 fee was proposed to be charged from clients, now reduced to P200, as the maximum amount pegged by the concerned government agency.
The ordinance was an offshoot of an earlier proposed ordinance authored by Vice-mayor Betty Lourdes Tabanda for the establishment of a drug-testing center at the BIJD.
The committee on second reading has approved the said ordinance after publication.
