THREE seminarians from the St. Francis Xavier Seminary were ordained as deacons in a ceremony dubbed as "Diakonia 2004"... in faithful service, at the Holy Family church on Wednesday, August 11 this year.
Juvelarde Cabading, Jeffrey Habado and Rosito Pedro Jr. were fated to deaconate ordination, the next step to priesthood, by Bishop Cartlito Cenzon of the Diocese of Baguio and Benguet in a ceremony attended by families, friends and relatives of the celebrates, who come from as far as Sinto, Bauko; Mankayan and Buguias in Benguet.
Juvelarde Cabading or 'Jovo' to his co-seminarians, friends and family is the son of spouses Julian and Lolyn from Buguias Central, Benguet. He is second in a family of seven siblings. His parents keep the family going by being farm laborers in their place or what Julian, the father, humbly terms as "maki por por dia laeng". A respected barangay councilman of Poblacion, Julian is eslated and very proud to be the father of a boy, who is destined to be a priest. Jovo is the nephew of Benguet Provincial Prosecutor Felix Cabaing.
Rosito Pedro Jr. hails from Mankayan, Benguet. His father Rosito Sr. works as a clerk at the Mayor's Office and mom Clarita, is a teacher. A family of five with two boys and three girls, a brother and a sister are both in the teaching profession, while his other sister is a nun, who belongs to the Congregation Hospitallier of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart based in Pasig, Metro Manila.
Jeffrey Habado's roots are traced from Buguias, Benguet, but the family established their residence at Sinto, Bauko, Mt. Province, because of the family's livelihood as revealed by his mother, Juanita, who are farm laborers and also meekly term it as "maki por por dia laeng". Jeffrey is their eldest in a family of five, three boys and their latest addition, twins, both girls.
Their ordination proper is inevitable as they anxiously await the event to come, and when it does, it would be held in their places of birth as bared by their rector, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Panayo, vocation coordinator of St. Francis Xavier Seminary.
