Mayor asked to name barangay exec to Burnham Park council

IN LINE with plans to improve Burnham Park, Councilor Rufino Panagan has asked Mayor Braulio Yaranon to designate a barangay representative to the Burnham Park management committee.

The alderman reiterated that Burnham-Legarda barangay has once been a member of the joint management committee, and involving them to be a part of the management committee could provide manpower, especially in the maintenance of peace and order.

It may also be recalled that apart from Panagan's suggestion, Councilor Pinky Chan-Rondez, chair of the council committee on parks, playground and special events, also proposed a resolution enjoining the strengthening of the Burnham park management committee.

This developed as Rondez proposed for the immediate implementation of the master development plan for Burnham, noting that the park is not being maintained the way it should as evidenced by several accidents which took place, particularly at the children's playground, which forms part of Burnham.

She added that with the decline of tourism in the city, there is a need to reinvent the city's strategy on inviting tourists to Baguio, and one of the cheapest way to do this is by redeveloping the city's parks, especially Burnham. (Rimaliza Opiña)
