Benguet Day awardees named

THE Benguet Provincial Board (PB) has bared the list of awardees to be recognized during the 104th Foundation Day celebration from November 22 to 26.

Board Member Johnny Uy, chairman of the awards and historical committee of the 104th Benguet Foundation Day, said the 18 individuals will be given due honors for their contributions to the development of the province. Categories of distinction include leadership, everlasting, achievement awards and special citations.

To receive the achievement awards are Ireneo Dianso for sports on bodybuilding; Brendaly Bayacsan for muaythai sports; Andy Colte for applied agricultural technology on cutflowers; and John Menzi for applied agricultural technology on rice production.

Everlasting awardees include Keiichi Ueno for farmers exchange program and Kazuki Hemino for agricultural technology services.

Dr. Isikias "Ike" Picpican for cultural journalism and Jerson Palaci Estero for sports, on the other hand, will both receive the leadership commendation.

Special citations will also be given to Claire Ann Bolislis - chief girl scout for livelihood; Ma. Valerie Pudsoc, Marlyn Saguidec, Bella Basalong, and Junalyn Tibangay - chief girl scouts for health; Jonalyn Edal, Mary Claire Baliwen, Romelyn Kimayong and Kristialyn Fianza - chief girl scouts for ecology; and Lovee Cawa - chief girl scout for cultural heritage.

Achievement awards are given to persons in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in a specific field of endeavor, projecting the good image of the province at various levels of governance.

Meanwhile, persons who have voluntarily rendered social, economic and infrastructure services benefiting the province or two or more local government units and their respective communities are also being considered for the everlasting awards.

Persons who have demonstrated qualities of leadership in any particular field with outstanding achievements or accomplishments projecting the good impression of the province are qualified to be nominated and to receive the Benguet leadership award. (Mari Cruz)
