CIDG team nabs 9 men, 3 slot machines By Ernie N. Olson Jr.
DETECTIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested nine persons reportedly caught red-handed while allegedly conducting illegal gambling operations inside a billiard hall near the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post early Tuesday afternoon.
The police team also seized three slot machines and P358 in alleged gambling money from the suspects, whom CIDG regional chief Marvin Bolabola identified as Noel Sixto Castor, 41; Rundy Udto Liaban, 24; Noli Baste Balano, 34; Alex Mendoza Bacani, 24; Jules Rufino Sagayo, 19; Roger Always Bacawat, 40; Daniel Khayad Polano, 18; James Garcia Corpus, 18; and Roky Panao Galaw, 27.
He said the operation was made in response to a complaint of a concerned citizen who reported that these illegal gambling machines were being used to entice minors, especially elementary school pupils, to gamble their money away.
All nine suspects were detained at the Bureau of Jail Management & Penology cell in La Trinidad, after charges were filed against them for their alleged violation of Presidential Decree 1602 before the Benguet Provincial Prosecutor's Office.
Bolabola said their detention was ordered by duty inquest Prosecutor Jurgenson Lagdao, after a bailbond of P10,000 each was recommended for their temporary liberty.
