DPWH asked to let mini-buses pass through Kennon

DUE TO clamor from residents, especially students residing along Kennon Road, the Municipal Government of Tuba requested the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to allow the passage of mini-buses along the scenic but geo-hazard area.

Tuba municipal officials claimed the unavailability of regular vehicles plying the area poses danger to the students as some take the risk of riding in trucks to bring them to school.

"It is the clamor of the parents, teachers and students along Kennon Road that mini-busses be allowed to pass along the (road) to ferry the students to and from their schools," the officials stated in a resolution.

The measure added that students are often late in going to their respective schools due to the unavailability of regular vehicles plying the area to cater to the students' needs.

"Some even take the risk of riding in trucks loaded with sand, gravel and others, which expose them to danger," the request noted.

The municipal officials further requested that mini-buses be allowed to pass the road three times a day - one in the morning, at noon time, and in the afternoon -- to transport the students to and from the schools. (Jane Cadalig)
