Tribute concert set for ex-Baguio video-photojournalist
LOCAL folk and country musicians will team up with lawyers, researchers and media practitioners in mounting a concert on July 30 in memory of a talented photo and video artist who recently succumbed to cancer.
Dubbed "Photographs and Memories", the musical treat at the Music and Friends Lounge along Session Rd. (near 456 Restaurant), will be for Romy Bagbagen who was buried last Monday on the family lot at Ampasit, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Art Tibaldo, his former colleague at the Philippine Information Agency, is also preparing an exhibit of Bagbagen's work as part of the city's Charter anniversary celebration.
Concert coordinator Conrad Marzan said assistant city prosecutor Rolly Vergara, lawyers Bubut Olarte and Nes Mondoc, anthropologist Kaloy Medina and newsmen Alfred Dizon and March Fianza will lead the solo performers in the concert set at 7 p.m.
Music and Friends manager Harland Ng has offered the Crossroads, Instinct, Dreamscape, Young Hearts and Blue Ridge bands while Marzan will be in a reunion performance with Mike Santos, Porky Peria, Willy Calderon and other members of the Freewheelin' Band.
Also coming in are Sammy Comiles, Dick Oakes and other members of Seldom Seen, a group of retired musicians who team up now and then to perk up concerts for the benefit of indigent medical patients.
Proceeds from the show will be in support of Bagbagen's widow Violeta and their children Olympus, Asahi, Nikon and Leica.
