68 Sandugo regional awardees recognized

A TOTAL of 12 individuals, six local government units (LGUs), 20 institutions, 18 "Blood Galloners" and 12 special awardees were commended by the Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development (CHD) during the recent Sandugo awarding ceremony held at Hotel Supreme as part of Blood Donors Month.

Among this year's individual awardees are Radegunda June Dangawen, blood center nurse of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC); Mary Ann Pedregoza, medical technologist of the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Baguio chapter; Rodolfo Barreras, medical technologist of the Abra Provincial Hospital; Maryann Bahiwag, medical technologist of the Ifugao Provincial Hospital; Dr. Dave Taclobao, pathologist of the Pines City Doctors' Hospital (PCDH); Dr. Myrna Espiritu, pathologist and chairperson of the HBTC in St. Louis University Hospital of the Sacred Heart (SLUHSH); Dr. Catalina Toquillo of the SLUHSH; Irene Baltan, medical technologist of the LHMRH; Dr. Mariano Mejia, commanding officer of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Hospital; Rowena Blancas, blood center medical technologist of BGHMC; Lykaine Kate Delmas, medical technologist of the PNRC Benguet chapter; and Wilson Baladad, chief medical technologist of the PCDH.

The LGU awardees this year are Mountain Province as represented by Governor Maximo Dalog; Balbalan, Kalinga, as represented by Mayor Allen Jesse Mangaoang; La Trinidad, Benguet, as represented by Mayor Nestor Fongwan; Bangued, Abra, as represented by Mayor Maria Zita Valera; the PNRC Baguio Chapter, as represented by Councilor Erdolfo Balajadia, chairman of its board of directors; and Abra, as represented by Provincial Board Member Ramon Dixon.

Acclaimed as "Blood Galloner" awardees are Robert Lachica and Franklin Regacho of the PNRC Kalinga Chapter; Mary Claire Tagubasi, Emmanuel Donge, Tom Noefe, Francis Uy Salcedo, Arnulfo Tayao, Renante Dilim and Ray Bernard Baviera of the PNRC Baguio Chapter; Melchor Tino, Corazon Becha, Ismael Palbusa, Farrah Lynne Papa, Dominador Bagano and Annabelle Carbonel of the PNRC Benguet Chapter; and Johnny Daliling Jr., Dr. Manuel Factora and Cesar Damasco of BGHMC.

Also lauded during the regional Sandugo recognition ceremony are PMA, Moog Controls Philippines, the Cordillera Administrative Region Training School of the Philippine Public Safety College, Texas Instruments Philippines, Bombo Radyo Baguio, the College of Criminology of the University of Baguio, the Baguio Electronic & Technical Institute College of Technology, Smart Communications, the Philippine Mine Safety & Environment Association, Guiding Light Christian Ministries, Jollibee La Trinidad, the SLUHSH Blood Bank, the Police Regional Office in the Cordillera, the Centers for Health Development of Regions 1 and 2, Biomate, the College of Criminology of the University of the Cordilleras, the Strawberry Chapter of the Guardians Center Foundation, Casiciaco Recoletos Seminary and the College of Medical Technology of the University of Baguio.

Also recognized as special awardees this year are Dr. Virginia de Joya, pathologist of the BGHMC; Dr. Jasmin Igama, hematologist of BGHMC; Dr. Shiela Luyon, BGHMC Blood Center chief; Dr. Zoraida Clavio, City Health Office laboratory head; Anastacia Tamayo, PNRC-Baguio Chapter administrator; Oscar Paris, PNRC Benguet Chapter administrator; Dr. Nathaniel Vidad, pathologist of the Veterans' Regional Hospital in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; Dr. Diosdado Domingo, hematologist of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center in Tuguegarao, Cagayan; Glorina Diaz, PNRC Kalinga Chapter administrator; Dr. Bernadette Baldo, pathologist of the Benguet General Hospital; and Olivia Lippad, medical technologist of the Bontoc General Hospital.
