Dad mulls parking incentives to reduce volume of vehicles

TO HELP reduce the volume of vehicles in Baguio City, why not give parking incentives?

Such is the solution thought of by Councilor Antonio Tabora in a proposed resolution requesting all malls and similar establishments in Baguio to give parking incentives to their customers.

Subject to such conditions such as the presentation of proof of minimum purchase, Tabora said mall owners might consider granting discounted parking fees to their customers.

It may be recalled that the Council, on October 1999, ordered the management of the then newly-constructed Baguio Center Mall to stop collecting parking fees as the body stressed that free provision of a parking space is a responsibility of the mall management.

But Tabora said instead of undertaking a similar action against the management of several malls here, the city should adopt a resolution for parking incentives.

Tabora added several malls and other establishments in Metro Manila have already adopted such form of parking incentive. (RO)
