Nightspot owners divided on time limit By Rimaliza Opiña
NOT ALL bar owners and nightspot operators in Baguio City are opposed to the time limit in operations after all.
This developed after several bar owners located at Session Road said they do not see anything "disturbing" about Administrative Order (AO) 114, nor are they affected by its implementation.
One bar owner, who also happens to operate during lunchtime, even advised those who recently sued the City Government to abide not only by the contents of the AO but also the existing ordinances, such as the ban on the entry of minors to liquor-serving establishments and compliance in the payment of government dues.
"This (order) should have been implemented a long time ago," another bar owner said, adding that the City Government should indeed take measures and ensure that local laws are enforced.
Aware that the AO's issuance was prompted by the infamous "Nevada scandal" where a couple reportedly had sex in public, another bar owner at Session Road said the incident should not have taken place if sanctions were imposed on the couple and owner of the bar where the incident happened.
In an earlier Sun.Star report, Irwin de Dios, president of the Nevada Square bar owners, admitted that AO 114 somehow served as a wake-up call for them after his group was advised not to allow minors into their establishments.
Additional security men were also employed and customers in every establishment have been forbidden to bring out liquor in their glass containers.
